There are so many considerations when running a business: growth plans, economic uncertainty, the future of technology, what ecommerce might look like in five years. It can be overwhelming to navigate all of it.

I’ve found that joy is one of the most reliable compasses. When I’m working on something that genuinely excites me, I do better work, make better decisions, and bring more energy to the people around me. When I’m grinding through something joyless, everything suffers. Use joy as a barometer. Not every task will be fun — but your overall direction should feel energizing. If it doesn’t, it’s worth asking why.
