For several months I have felt pulled to revisit my book, Profit First for Ecommerce Sellers.
I would talk to other Profit First Professionals as they considered writing a book for their niche, and I’d share what I learned from launching my own. Underneath those conversations was a quiet tug: I need to revisit my book. So much has changed, and we’ve developed better tools.
Then I’d get pulled back into the day to day, and I’d forget that tug — for a while.
The Spark
Last week, a spark changed that.
I was attending a workshop, and the presenter, answering a question, said something that stopped me: “You only need 35% new content for a second edition.”
Hmm. Could this be true?
She was knowledgeable in the publishing field, so I trusted her judgment. And I knew immediately that the Special Report we recently completed had already given me much of the backbone for that new content.
That spark gave me permission to look through the crack of that open door — and I liked what I saw. I could see that my new insights for the revised edition would be valuable and would serve my readers.
Pushing the Door Open
I didn’t have to think about it for another minute.
I pushed that door open and started writing an introduction. I started scheming about which clients I’d want to interview. I started thinking about how to bridge the first edition into the new world of ecommerce. I even started reading the 1–3 star reviews of my current book, so I could address those concerns head-on.
I’m excited about the process of writing again, and I’d love to take you on this journey with me.
