Your path

You Path

I read a post today from Steven Bartlett of Diary of a CEO fame.

He said that not everyone is cut out for being an entrepreneur and we should quit glamorizing it.

I know there is some truth there, but I really do recommend this entrepreneurial life.

He purports that a job allows you to be done on nights and weekends, and that is true, sometimes.

He also suggests that as entrepreneurs we are on all the time and that is true as well.

Unless we build it so we can be off sometimes.

One of the real opportunities through entrepreneurship is to connect with your purpose and allow it to shape your personal growth.

There is nothing like starting a business to expose your weaknesses and force you to address them.

Recently I have been thinking about the loss of Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.

He passed on January 10th, 2026.

At his memorial, John Mayer performed Ripple.

A song of deep personal meaning for me. There is a passage that says:

There is a road, no simple highway

Between the dawn and the dark of night

And if you go, no one may follow

The path is for your steps alone.

I saw the Grateful Dead in July of 1990 at Carter Finley Stadium in Raleigh.

It was 100° and we had a lightning storm that fried the sound system and stopped the show for three minutes.

Once restored, Jerry, Bob and the rest returned to the stage and picked up mid song.

They were a band that knew their purpose, to perform music live and entertain thousands.

A lightning storm would not deter them for long.

Check out Ripple on YouTube and then decide to recommit to your path.

It's for your steps alone.

RIP Bob Weir.
