You have all the answers

May 30, 20252 min read

Have you been stuck making a decision and really have no idea what to do next?

Often we believe that we just need to ask an expert so we can learn from them.

They may have done it before and know the right answer.

They'll be glad to give you their answer or maybe sell you a package to tell you; but what if it's not right for you?

Try this process instead, and see if you can access your own right answer:

First, identify your question clearly and write it down.

Next, think about your superheroes.

Maybe they're from the screen, or from your family, or from a recent news article.

They can be living, dead, fictional. I often blend them.

My go to is a blend of Anne Lamont and Georgia O'Keeffe.

I call my version Annie O.

Sometimes my superhero is my friend Katie who passed away a few years ago.

Just pick your super mentor and invite them for a visit.

Then ask your question followed by “What would you do? What's your best advice here?“

Journal and write down all the thoughts that come up.

I often try writing with my non dominant hand, a technique I learned from Yanik Silver.

This simple act of switching hands cuts down on the brain chatter and overthinking.

You get clarity quickly.

Finally, I review my thoughts and decide on my next steps.

And I thank my superpower ally.

We live in a world where there are lots of directions we can go.
