You Deserve Not to Settle
When we got home to Arkansas a couple weeks ago, the power company trimmed the trees under the power lines.
What a mess!
Small trees cut and laying on the ground, branches trimmed and laying everywhere.
They had mowed down a forsythia hedge.
The debris had been there for a while, because all the leaves were brown and dead.
I called the power company to ask if they were going to clean it up and the supervisor assured me that they would.
The weekend before last, they came back with a beast of a machine driving through my yard to mulch up the debris.
I could only imagine the ruts in my yard and garden left by that huge tractor.

I have evidence of the damage from where they turned around.
I asked the driver what other options there were because I had seen the mess on the roadside left by this machine’s grinding process.
The frayed stubble left in my Woodland area would have been an eyesore and a trip hazard for years.
He claimed there weren't any options, but he offered to call his boss.
They decided to leave it until Monday, when the boss would call me.
Then it was Tuesday and they were back with their chipper truck.
I could hear it running as I did my morning journaling.
I'm grateful they had another option and that my yard and gardens are being cleared of debris today.
They said they would have a couple of loads of wood chips and asked if they could leave them somewhere my on my land.
That's a bonus for both of us, because next spring I'll have compost, and they didn't have to drive to their yard an hour away.
My gardens are important to me and I take pride in them.
I am very grateful for my electricity too, and understand the importance of the pruning the power company has to do.
When we had a conversation, we found a way that worked for both of us.
