Messy Times in Life and Business
Life is messy and it makes our businesses messy too.
This has been a hard week dealing with the loss of my brother as I hit some new bumps in the road.
Grieving opens up all sorts of wounds.
In addition, we have one employee out from complications from a recent surgery, one’s husband was laid off, another one learned of a scary cancer diagnosis for her mother, and another got offered a dream job with her church.
All this while my team has been helping train our newest hires and onboarding new clients.
And we learned that we disappointed a new client as we brought them on board.
It's a lot to take in, even when you are clear headed, but when your heart is aching, it feels like almost too much.
I'm so grateful for my team to help shoulder the load and to help each other and be a sounding board.
My husband, Dave, is the business COO and he helps me process so much of the family grief just by letting me talk and process it all.
My leadership team has done a great job talking with employees, keeping me informed, and making sure that longtime team members are cared for while training our newest team members.
They've also helped investigate our clients’ concern and how we can do better.
I am grateful we hired excess capacity beyond our current needs.
As a result, we have someone trained ready to help with new initiatives and can be trained by the employee that is leaving to serve her clients without a gap.
Caring is one of our core values and when there are many personal struggles for team members we all try to help shoulder the load for each other.
We all have experienced hard situations and I am proud of how much my team cares for each other.
Just last week, a team member donated her PTO to help another member out for surgery.
We didn't have a policy for that, but we figured it out and now it's one more way we can demonstrate our caring core value.
Not many of my clients have large teams that they can rely on.
Some may have a virtual assistant and that's it.
This creates a business that is dependent solely on them.
One of the things that we love to help them with is creating processes and hiring the right team to help ensure that they can focus on growing their business.
Of course, your financial house also has to be in order for this to be an option.
In 5 minutes or less, our Ecommerce Business Performance Assessment can tell you if you're prepared for that step and many others.
Then we know where to start with our Cash Accelerator.
We get your dollars lined out and then we work on your direction.
When these two things line up, magic can happen. So let's talk.
