
How Can Your Team Help You
This past two weeks I have been interviewing my team.
I love to have a one-on-one with everyone to learn what they are trying to achieve in their personal lives and what areas they would like to grow in professionally.
These interviews help me to align the team members with the changes that are coming to our business.
Our industry, practically every industry, is experiencing massive change because of AI.
In the time of massive change, it's vital to communicate more and especially listen more, during these meetings.
So I have asked about my team's personal goals in the next two to three years, their professional goals.
We've discussed what we are doing well as an organization, what people love about their jobs, what they might change if they had a magic wand.
This time I got pretty detailed about the changes we are initiating in the next few months and I asked for their feedback, concerns, and what interests or excites them.
Then I asked how I might support them now and during the coming months.
It's been great catching up with long time team members; and fun to get to know some of our newer team members better.
I gained so much insight from these visits.
I learned who wants to champion the new changes, who loves doing the payroll validations and wants to help others.
I learned about concerns over health, about fitness goals, and challenges with work-life integration.
Now, as I contemplate all the responses, the upcoming changes feel more doable.
I feel the depth of caring from each person and it gives me confidence that we can figure out anything together.
If you want more confidence in your team, spend time asking them about their dreams and what they think.
When you take action from this place, the result will result be a strong culture.
