Dreams and Goals
Last Friday, I achieved a big dream.
As I sat in the airport, I realized that when I went to sleep that night, I would have visited all 50 states.
I haven’t been checking off a map or a list, I don’t think I ever even wrote it down as a goal or a bucket list.
Yet as a child I always loved reading about far away places, especially the SW United States.
A friend gifted my great grandparents a subscription to the Arizona Highways magazine.
The images of red rocks and cacti seemed foreign to the green pastures and rolling fields of rural NC.
I dreamed of seeing those landscapes with my own eyes.
My corporate work sent me on a few trips - DC, California, Montana, Minnesota, even Hawaii - and that made me realize how different each state and region are.
Of course, there are the same national brand restaurants and big box stores, but the local food and housing styles and landscapes are diverse and fascinating to me.
I am so blessed that as an entrepreneur my work affords me the opportunity and the flexibility to travel.
The lifestyle as a business owner can be what you make it, all stress and striving for a revenue goal, or my preferred way, building Life Profit.
I think most Ecommerce entrepreneurs are trying to build a lifestyle too, but the prevailing wisdom of "grow revenue" takes its toll.
Maybe it’s time to try a new approach.
Try looking at how your business can help you reach your goals.
This week, as I explored New Mexico, I was especially excited to visit the galleries and home of a woman I admire as a person and an artist: Georgia O’Keefe.
She once said “I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.”
I think of that often as I approach new ventures.
It I’m not a little scared, then it’s probably not worth doing.
What are your goals?
Are you a little scared trying to reach them?
Is your business helping you achieve them?
We can help you plan those goals out. Reach out and let's get started.
